All That Drama | No Fear For Freedom | We Got Game | He's Alive
Created and written by: Dr. Kimberly P. Johnson and Bruce McKagan,
Music produced by Joe Carter
ALL THAT DRAMA the musical is a current day story that reveals how a middle class African-American family, the Charles, lean on their deep-rooted family values to get them through the challenges they experience every day. It’s a story about real world drama; bullying, lying, drugs, mental illness, and even death. It’s a heartfelt story about 16-year old Whitney Charles and the positive impact she and her family have on their neighborhood, her classmates and their new neighbors, the McCarthys. Teenage daughter Amanda, younger sister Molly and their mother, have recently relocated from an upper-class, predominantly white community to a modest home next door to the Charles.
The entire musical takes place over 4 days, starting on Thursday night, the McCarthy’s first evening in their new home, and ending on Sunday at a rousing church service. It’s full of song, tears, joy, surprises and pure fun, exposing the audience not only to drama and conflict, but also to the power of community, self-discovery and hope.

The Friendship 9, a group of college students and activists in Rock Hill, South Carolina, claimed a rightful place in history by challenging inequality and unfair laws. In 1961, their decision to help place into motion the Jail, No Bail strategy empowered many communities. As we continue to learn from our struggles and most importantly create a world free of racism and social injustice, we will inspire our future generations to do the same!

Many historians believe the 1930s Pittsburgh Crawfords of the Negro League were the best baseball team to have ever taken the field. With the likes of legendary Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell, Judy Johnson and Oscar Charleston, all eventual Major League Baseball Hall of Fame members, it’s easy to see how this team captured the imagination and curiosity of our national past time.
WE GOT GAME is a musical that highlights the highs and the lows of this historic team: the struggles, the joys, the heartbreaks, the dreams, the prejudices, and the lifelong friendships. The Pittsburgh Crawfords played in a time of extreme discrimination, openly demonstrated by the hate crimes of the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacists in the south. This was a decade before Branch Richie and Jackie Robinson changed the landscape of baseball… and the nation. See Overview
